Simplicity 5537

Summer is leaving us and gray skied days are arriving. This is for me the time of the year when it is harder to decide what to wear. And I am only talking about myself, I can only imagine how hard it is for those you need to dress their kids every morning. Its breezy but not really cold, its foggy but it still not winter...
So today I remember a blouse I have started a year ago (yes that's is correct a year ago) and just finished last week. To be honest it was almost done the only things missing were the buttons and button holes, still a year has gone by.
I have inherited the fabric and is quite vintage (let's say it this way) as it was from a great.aunt of mine. At first it was a little hard to decide what to do with it because, let's face it is not a pattern that make your life easy. On top of that I didn't have that much fabric. So I decided a skirt was not a good option as it would look too dated and decided to go for a blouse. To make it lighter I decided to have a blouse with a couple of unconventional details. First, I chose a sleeve length hat is almost a 3/4 but not qutite and secondly, I wanted it to have buttons on the back.
I have used some vintage pattern I bought on etsy, which I have shown you here. I used the blouse pattern Simplicity 5537. So now you're thinking, you just said you didn't want it to look dated and you go and choose a vintage pattern? I know... calm down, as usual I made some alterations. One was the lenght of the sleeves and the other one was the colar, that I eliminated. Nevertheless, I must say I really like this blouse pattern and I intend to make it just as it is, with no alterations, whenever I find the perfect white fabric for it. I don't think this pattern will disappoint me.
Photo quality is not very good (I'm sorry) mainly for two reasons. First one is the lack of sun light today and the second, and probably the most relevant here, I took the pictures myself and let me tell you taking pictures of yourself is not easy if you wanna get something good (which I wasn't able to).
About the sewing process I must say it is a simple pattern and besides the obvious lateral seams and the sleeves, there are two yokes on the back and two on the front plus the already common ones on the chest area. So if you have this pattern and still haven't tested it, go for it. As I said before I chose sleeve with intermediate lenght and as the fabric is not very light nor very strong I belive this blouse will be a good friend of mine in the following weeks.
